Student saving tips: Discount Hunt.co.uk

Photobucket

Since becoming a student I seem to be scared of spending my student loan unless it's for food or taxi's or uni trips. So many people I know are spending their loan or everything they 'think' they want and not what they actually need. Throwing hundreds down the drain because they want to buy something designer rather than thinking about what's actually necessary.
Yes I know clothes and beauty items are necessary but I think the others come first. I need to buy a few things though and I would love to get a few things to make my university room more homely! (I might do a post on this!) but first I want to show you all a site i've recently come across which is discounthunt.co.uk! If you're not familiar with discount code websites they'll soon become your best friends!
When you're shopping online or even on the high-street its a wise move to check the current discount codes on offer by finding them online especially for restaurants and clothes you could make a HUGE saving! I for one love shopping but now I'm a student I'm being very wary about my spending! Discount Hunt has already helped me save money and I had to share this secret with you all! They currently have great debenhams discount codes, H&M and ASOS codes.
What do you think of discount code websites? do you check them before you go shopping? have they saved you money?

Top Designers in Fashion - Style And Fashion Weeks

Fashion designers are creators! The fashion shows and the fashion weeks attract fashionistas even in this time of financial insecurity. The catwalks are full of beautiful models presenting glamorous collections however, the buzz of the fashion weeks is dimmer.
The social and the financial instability through which the world is going through today has affected the fashion industry and the fashion designers. But in times of crisis there is no need to despair you just need to make the most of the situation given. This seems to be the motto after which the designers are creating their collections this year. Even the tops designers at fashion weeks have adapted to this trend. The collections seem to be down to earth and more wearable than the ones in the previous years.
However, even if there is this common ground from where the designers leave when they start their collection there are many differences in the style and attitude of their clothes. We can actually separate the fashion trends and styles according to some of the biggest capitals of the world. For instance, the French scene is dominated by designers such as Gautier, Nina Ricci and many others. However, Paris seems to be losing it fashion crown to London. Some of the best designers here are Vivienne Westwood, Sir Hardy Amies, Christopher Kane and many others.
The French designers have always respected the chic and classy trends and have focused on high glamor styles. Their clothes are sophisticated and are almost always accompanied by smart accessories. Having boutiques and shows all over the world they sedm to have an aesthetic sense of fashion that prevails at any time. The British designers on the other hand create conservative attires using extravagant material. Their creations take us to the idea of royalty and dignity.
The style of the designers is characteristic of the city where they reside however, choosing a particular clothing item is something of personal taste. There are many fashion trends and styles but you should always invest in clothes that represent you and your personality.
You can find a wide range of men and womens clothing such as designer suits, dresses and t-shirts for all occasions, all you have to do is search for the right ones for you.

Easy Home Improvement Ideas For Every Homeowner

When you want to change the decor of your home, there are some easy home improvement ideas that can get you started on the right track by going away from the old room decor and adding to it a new visual impact in style and functionality. You don't have to buy expensive items in orddr to change the look of your rooms. Rearranging the furniture and adding a few touches here and there will do wonders to the interior design and decorating of your home!
When it comes to the bedroom, you can replace the old curtains and draperies and add new ones with fresh colors instead. Use a huge floral pattern or mosaic theme. If you have extra curtain material as left over, you can add the extra piece to your bed headboard for matching decor. Add some area rugs on the floor, apparently randomly scattered around, however make sure that the colors match those of the curtain and headboard. Also any night reading lamps you have should have the lampshade matching in style with the existing room ambient.
As for the living room, use bright colors on your walls and ceiling and change the ceiling lamp with a modern chandelier instead that has sparkling crystals for a great effect. Also use highlighter illumination with various table lamps or floor lamps that cast a very narrow and focused lighting on the very spot you want to put the emphasis on.
Task lighting using hanging pendants is a great way to add to the ambient and functionality of any kitchen. You can use it either above the sink or on the kitchen island. Some people like to use track lighting coming from the ceiling and this gives also great results as long as you change the direction of the lighting curve.
There are many great ideas that you can use to improve your home decor without spending a mini fortune on it. All you need is use your creativity and imagination and it's OK to take a peek at the various interior decorating magazines that can give you wonderful ideas and spark your imagination with even better options that you haven't thought of before.

Top Five Home Improvement Ideas to Consider

Home improvement is a very widespread field, with many ideas from which to choose. During the summertime, countless people think about remodeling their homes, making improvements to certain rooms of the house, but are often not sure which improvements to do. Low-cost home improvements that not only improve your home's appearance, but also help you save money in the long run, are the hottest plans currently. I'm writing this to list these ideas and hopefully, help spark your imagination. These are the top 5 home improvement ideas for 2009:
1.) Installing "Green" Technology - Due to the need of almost everyone to save money right now, and because of the increased awareness of the need to save our environment, the top home improvement plan right now is the installing of "green" technology, also known as "going green." This could include such installments as solar panels, power-generating windmills, environmentally-friendly cleaners, energy efficient heating and cooling system, and energy-saving light bulbs. Solar panels may be costly at first, but they will save a huge amount of money in the long run by generating your own electricity. The same goes for the energy efficient heating and cooling system - it will help you save money on your electric bills. Windmills can not only help you generate your own electricity, but they can be made with parts from the junkyard. You can't get much cheaper than that! Also, many of these "going green" improvements will help you qualify for a tax break and help out the environment. It's a win-win situation.
2.) Install a programmable thermostat - This may be a very simple improvement, but don't underestimate it. Installing a programmable thermostat will help save money on your electric bills. How does it do this? Instead of having the air conditioning or the heater running all day, the pre-programmed thermostat only turns on the AC or the heat when the temperature of the house gets too hot or too cold. This keeps the central heating and cooling system from running unnecessarily and, in turn, saves you money.
3.) Re-insulate your home - Making sure your home is well insulated will also help save you money on electric bills. That is because a well-insulated home will not let out cool air in the summer, and it will not let out warm air in the winter. That also keeps hot or cold air from drafting into the house.
4.) Paint or re-decorate your living space - This may seem like a very simple improvement to your home, but it is effective. Painting your rooms and re-decorating in soothing colors and accents will help you relax and want to spend more time in your newly decorated home. Pamper yourself along with the new designs and you will feel like you are at a spa getaway.
5.) Put in a patio - This is probably the most expensive option (unless you have close friends or family who are carpenters) but it is worth the splurge. A patio or a sun deck will allow you to relax and soak up some rays in your own back yard. You can grill out with family and friends, sun bathe on a chaisse lounge, or watch the stars from your patio. The good thing about putting in a patio is that it is actually less expensive than adding a room onto your house. A patio may be a small addition, but it will more than pay for itself with all the hours of relaxation it will afford.

My University Wishlist: Topshop

Since realising I'm going to spend the majority of the next 3 years of my life walking miles and miles each day to get to University everything I look at now to buy clothing wise is now going to be comfortable and stylish and practical (not that the things I bought before weren't but the fact that now I'm walking miles wearing these things I am thinking again before I buy!) I have my eye on a few things in Topshop but now I'm a university student affording these things is even more impossible! (boo!) But I thought I'd show you guys what I would buy! Definitely want this jacket though!

When I think about getting new items of clothing for my wardrobe now I'm thinking about mixing and matching more than ever. I absolutely adore this jacket and I've had my eye on it for a while It's perfect for layering and wearing all the way through winter and especially when you're walking miles everyday it's going to be cold! But i'm also looking for a proper coat with a hood too! So if you have any ideas/suggestions let me know! Hotpants just seem to be a thing I wear all year round and I love these burgundy ones! I love heavy weight leggings from Topshop as they are so so warm and last forever I have the black ones which I adore but these blue ones are gorgeous too! I am getting into wearing more and more skirts now and I love skater skirts and how you can just throw on a skater skirt with a casual t-shirt and look quite edgy! I live in Topshop sweaters like these so I'll be definitely purchasing this one! I'm looking for the perfect pair of boots to to last me through winter wish these were leather! But I love them anyway!
Which item would you buy? Are you at university? Which would be your university essential?
